From the products you’ll find in our kitchen, to the people and projects we’re connected to on our city streets and beyond, we proactively advocate for various social justice issues, both locally and globally.

Some of our previous projects have involved advocating for recycling bins in Westfield Mall and making a video about inequality in New Zealand, helping protect the rights of fishing crews and reducing harm from pokie machines. Our Lighthouse Kids have also learnt about slavery and restorative justice, writing to Members of Parliament to share their views in response.

The parish has become a Living Wage employer. This is part of the Diocesan commitment to paying all staff and contractors enough to live with dignity and participate in society.

Our Fair Trade policy means that we buy Fair Trade tea and coffee whenever possible to ensure that the people who produce them get a fair deal. Ideally we’ll only use Fair Trade ingredients in the food we serve and cook here too.
